Back in 2005, after trying to have children for 2 years with no luck we decided that we needed to go see the doctor. We had countless visits and the doc had Jenny taking medicine to try and help. Well, after what seemed like an eternity of trying that with no results except for heartache, we decided that it was time to start thinking about adoption. And to tell you the truth, it was a joke while we lived in Logan. The Logan agency for LDS Family Services wasn't really on the ball. Lets leave it at that. I was finishing school and had many opportunities to travel (Paris, Berlin, Belize) and Jenny had many opportunities to grow at her job. We sat on the sidelines and watched as siblings on both sides of the family were blessed with children. IT WAS FRUSTRATING! We continued to enjoy life though as we had the chance to go and spend a summer in St. George because of an internship I had with the city. We took a spontaneous trip to Disneyland one weekend which has to be one of the funnest things we have ever done.
Then, in February 2007 we had a very big surprise. A very special girl named Katie came into our lives and informed us that we were going to be parents. She was going to place her baby boy with us for adoption. She was due in June and we only had a few months to prepare. We got to know her and came to love her very quickly. We spent time with her and her boyfriend (Brandon) who she started dated after she found out she was pregnant. They are both fantastic and special people. We still keep in contact with them on a regular basis. They have since been married in the temple and are doing great. Blaine Taylor Swenson was born June 13, 2007 in Provo.
After Blaine was born, he had trouble breathing and was rushed off to the NICU. There, they placed him on a breathing machine and gave him some serfactant to develop his lungs a little more. He seemed to be doing fine until the doctors removed the tubes and cut his tummy. We got a call the next morning not knowing that this had happened and the the doctor told us that Blaine had more tubes down his throat that there was blood coming up those tubes.
Needless to say we were a little worried. We rushed to the hospital and wanted to give Blaine a blessing but we were far from home and had no one to help me. That is when the Lord stepped in and gave us a very sweet experience. We asked Katie if her dad would be willing to come down and help and he was very gracious and did so. That was a very neat and special experience. After that, Blaine was on the mend and 5 days later we walked out of the hospital and brought him home!

Since then, it has been one new experience after another. All have been great. We love it when Blaine looks at us and smiles. He is a wiggle worm, momma's boy, and has a sweet personality. We are so greatful we have him and words can't express how greatful we are to Katie.
