YUM!

We went to dinner the other night and my brother, Kody, thought it would be funny to give Blaine a lemon and see his face pucker up. But, to our surprise, Blaine liked the lemon. He kept sucking on it over and over. Occasionally he would shudder a little but mostly he loved it. Silly guy!

Here are a few pictures too. Ü

I'm Finally Reading a Book

And I am almost finished. I know that for those of you that know me this is a shock as you probably thought that I couldn't read. Ever since I was made to read as a little kid I have not enjoyed reading as I should. I have tried all kinds of books too. But finally, I found one that I cannot put down. "Flag's of Our Fathers". And since it is Memorial Day weekend I thought it fitting to share a few thoughts with you all on this book and those that have gone before us to keep our freedom, and other's freedom intact.

It is amazing to read the history of the six flagraisers on Iwo Jima. Where they came from and how they fit into their families. Probably the most impressionable fact of the book is that every one of those boys had an extremely strong and loving mother. The book talks about the America that they grew up in. It made me long for such days. Times seemed so simple in 1930's America. America still had a youthful innocence about it. It was interesting to contrast that America and the one we live in today. It seems that everyone is looking out only for themselves compared to those who lived in WWII America. Many Americans sacrificed greatly to support their country and the war effort.

The book is quite graphic as to the battle for Iwo Jima and what happened to some of the boys. And yes, most were boys. 18 and 19 years old and some as young as 15. They obviously lied about their age. The Japanese played by no rules and were ruthless to our marines. I will not write what they did here as it really is too graphic.

I now have a new and deeper respect for those serving in the armed forces and for what they have to go through to keep the greatest country in the world, safe. May the Lord bless our our great nation and may we pray for our leaders and military. Pray that we will continue to serve the Lord and that our country will be strong in these trying times.

Not the prickly, green stuff again!

For the last few months, I have been anxiously waiting for nice weather so I could take Blaine outside to play on the grass. FINALLY, the good weather comes. But, come to find out, Blaine doesn't like grass. Whenever I put him down on the grass, he holds his legs up in the air so they don't touch the grass! It's so funny looking!

Happy Mother's Day Jen!

I thought I would take the time to pay tribute to my incredible wife today as this is her first mother's day as a mom. She is the most amazing person I know. She does such a good job with Blaine teaching him to be a good boy. While I am at my desk working away at my job Jen has the equivalent of a full time job chasing our boy up and down stairs and all through the house making sure he doesn't eat Zoe's kitty food or fall down those stairs he is climbing on. I am so grateful that she stays home to take care of Blaine and in the future our other children. That is so important to me and I know that we will be blessed for it in the future.
Also, She is an incredible wife! I could not do anything without her. She is the love of my life and my sweetheart that I will grow old and wrinkley with. Sometimes I think she is the single mother of 2 boys as I am a handful on occasion. But she handles everything that is thrown at her very well. She is the best mom and wife in the world! Happy Mother's Day Jen...I love you!

Thanks Moms!

So, since it is Mother's Day on Sunday, I decided that I wanted to blog about some "Moms" that I am grateful for.
First off, of course, is my mom. I have such a loving and supportive mom. About a year and a half ago, I was really sick. I couldn't eat anything, I had a hard time sleeping and I just hurt so much. My mom would come up to Logan and stay with me on my days off from work. She was always there when I needed her and I am so grateful for that. I don't know what I would have done without her. She is such a great example. Growing up, I learned so much about the gospel just by watching her. Whenever I would walk by her room in the mornings, I would see her reading her scriptures or saying her prayers. Her example made me want to read and pray as well. I also learned how important the Temple was through her example. When we had family prayers, she would always pray that her children would choose to get married in the Temple. Mom, thank you for being such a great example and friend!
I am also grateful for Tyson's mom, Michelle. I know that Tyson is the great man he is largely because of her. I remember Tyson talking about his mom when he was in high school. I could tell that he really loved her and respected her. Michelle has made me feel like a part of the family since the first time I met her. Michelle thank you for raising such a great man!
My sister, Summer, is Super Mom. I want to be just like her. She is so patient with her kids and sets such a good example for them. She comes up with such fun ideas for crafts and activities to do with her kids. Summer is so selfless. She is always putting others before herself. Summer, I have looked up to you since we were little girls and I still look up to you.
Another "mom" that is important to me is Blaine's Birth Mom, Katie. I don't think there are words to describe how much she means to Tyson and me. I will be forever grateful for her. I wouldn't have the privilege of being a mom if it wasn't for her. Everyday I thank Heavenly Father for her. She is one of the most amazing people I know. She is so sweet and so caring. I'm grateful that we get to have her as a part of our life. Katie, thank you doesn't seem like enough for all you have done for us. I will be forever grateful for you!
Last but not least is Katie's mom Gay. The first time we met Gay was in the hospital the night before Blaine was born. She was so kind and so accepting of us. Tyson and I always knew we would love the baby we adopted and our birth mother, but we never realized that we would love our birth mother's family just as much. Gay, thank you for being so supportive of Katie and thank you for being so good to us.
I love you Mom, Michelle, Summer, Katie and Gay!
Love... Jenny Ü

My Sweet, New Ju-Ju-Be Diaper Bag! Ü

So, a few months ago, my friend Jill was looking for a new diaper bag. She found Ju-Ju-Bes and blogged about them. I thought they were amazing and I wanted one too! One small problem; they are really expensive. I told my older sister, Summer, about them and then planned on never having one.
Well, yesterday afternoon there was a knock on my door. I opened the door just in time to see the UPS guy driving off leaving a large box, with my name on it, on the porch. Hmmm. I didn't order anything. I wonder who it's from. It was from Ju-Ju-Be! I kept saying "You've got to be kidding me! She didn't!" Well, yes she did! Summer has been trying for months to win a Ju-Ju-Be off their website. She finally won and what did she do? She sent it to me! She has a Ju-Ju-Be, but it's a used one she got off eBay. She totally could have kept it for herself, but she gave it to me instead. What a sweet sister! Thank you Summer! I love it! Ü
If you want to see more of the Ju-Ju-Bes, go to www.ju-ju-be.com (I totally sound like a commercial huh! Ü )

I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!

Ready for today's soapbox moment? Buckle up, here we go! Flaming liberal Al Gore is at it again. He is using the terrible tragedy in Myanmar to further his global warming political agenda. Apparently, This cyclone is directly related to global warming...that we are causing. Thanks Al, but can you explain that every year since 1998 the earth has been cooling off and not getting warmer even though the output of Co2 has increased? Hurry, everyone stop reading this right now and run to your nearest Toyota dealership and buy that new Prius and on you way home stop at you local Walmart and get some of those new green eco-friendly- until- they -break light bulbs. Global Warming is the greatest con ever to redistribute wealth and strip sovereignty from the United States. But you never know. I mean, when we finally find those SUVs the dinosaurs were driving I guess Al will be right.
